European Employment Strategy (EES)
The future of the EES
In 2010, the European Employment Strategy (EES) will be phased out as conceived in the framework of the Lisbon strategy. Discussions are underway on the future shape, priorities, themes and focus for the EES in the post-Lisbon period after 2010.
The thematic experts of the EEO have given an important contribution to the internal discussions at the Commission level about the future of the EES. The development of employment policy in the EU leading up to the European Employment Strategy 1997 (Walsh, 2009) and Formulation of the European Employment Strategy for the post-Lisbon period in the context of economic crisis (Weiler, 2009)
