3.9.3.1. Aim

To protect employees from dismissals due to organisational matters, i.e. for being or not being a member of a trade union or other professional organisation.

3.9.3.2. Legal basis

  • - The Act on Protection against dismissal due to organisational matters
  • - Act no. 285 of 9 June 1987.

    3.9.3.3. Contents

    An employer is not allowed to dismiss an employee for being a member of a union or of a specific union or for not being a mem-ber.

    3.9.3.4. Financial resources

    If an employee is dismissed in violation of the provisions laid down in the Act, the employer shall be liable to pay him/-her com-pensation.
