The Employment Promotion Centres evolved from the OAED employment offices and target the unemployed, the working population, special social groups, businesses and employers.
Their basic aims are:
- a more effective link between supply and demand in the labour market;
- more efficient service for the unemployed, the working population, special social groups, employers and businesses;
- a more effective link between training, education and employment;
- the conversion of the OAED's employment policies from passive to active;
- improvement in the services provided by the OAED.
A total of 54 EPCs will have been set up by the end of the year 2000. At least 30 EPCs are expected to be in operation by the end of 1999. The goal of the EPCs is to respond to interventions in the labour market.
