Through the registration of vacancies and of unemployed jobseekers, and through a process of matching the two, multiple benefits result for Greek society. First, the appropriate unemployed jobseeker is rapidly placed in suitable employment. Second, any discrepancies between the supply and demand of labour are quickly recognised, thus leading to changes to or the design of new training and education programmes, which will lead to better prospects. The following specialised services are provided at the EPCs:

  • - public information office;
  • - interview office for all unemployed persons;
  • - special interview office for persons from special categories;
  • - special area for group work with the unemployed for the provision of active career guidance with the assistance of an employment consultant;
  • - special office for the operation of the EURES system;
  • - provision of self-service systems for jobseekers and for vocational information.

    The Employment Promotion Centres provide the following Instruments:

  • - Provision of an Employment Card, which every unemployed person can use in different ways, depending on the programme he/she wishes to participate in;
  • - functional link between the EPC and the Local Technical Training Centres;
  • - functional link between the unemployment benefit service and the EPC;
  • - network function for vacancies stored on PCs;
  • - connection to EURES;
  • - PCs for information concerning the operation of Training Centres and employment programmes;
  • - registration on the Internet of vacancies, the characteristics of the unemployed and all programmes in operation;
  • - individualised support for the unemployed from the specially trained personnel at the EPCs;
  • - training programme for the personnel at the EPCs.
