3.5.1.GR-v.1 Enterprise subsidy scheme for job creation
3.5.1.1. Target group
Unemployed persons aged 18 to 29 who have been registered with the OAED for at least one month, and unemployed persons aged 30 to 64 who have been registered for at least two months. Enterprises which recruit such persons are granted a subsidy which varies according to the sex of the applicant and the region (higher subsidies are granted in "unemployment clusters", i.e. regions especially affected by unemployment).

3.5.1.3. Contents
Newcomers to the labour market are placed in subsidised employment lasting two months. Young persons (aged 18-29) who have been registered as unemployed for up to 5 months are given subsidised employment of the following durations:
- 16 months for men;
- 18 months for women;
- 18 months for men in receipt of unemployment benefit;
- 20 months for women in receipt of unemployment benefit.
The duration of subsidised employment for those registered as unemployed for up to 11 months is as follows:
- 16 months for men;
- 20 months for women;
- 18 months for long-term unemployed men aged 30-64 who have been registered as unemployed for at least 11 months;
- 20 months for long-term unemployed women aged 30-64 who have been registered as unemployed for at least 11 months.
The duration of the subsidy can be extended by up to two years in "unemployment clusters". Unemployed persons in receipt of unemployment benefit are also entitled to an extension if they would otherwise not have participated in the scheme. The extension in this case is equal to half of the relevant period of subsidisation. The duration of the subsidy has also been extended to up to 36 months in total for enterprises in areas particularly affected by the recent earthquakes in Athens (7 September 1999).
The subsidy amounts to up to GRD 4,000 daily for full-time employment or up to GRD 2,000 daily for part-time employment.
