3.5.2.GR-v.2 Subsidy scheme for new entrepreneurs (new self-employed)


3.5.2.1. Target group

Unemployed persons aged 18 to 29 who have been registered in the OAED unemployment register for at least one month, and unemployed persons aged 30 to 64 who have been registered with the OAED for at least two months receive financial support which varies according to the sex of the participant and the region ("unemployment cluster") where the enterprise has been founded.

The scheme is also open to persons who set up enterprises in areas with Local Employment Pacts (such as the prefectures of Achaia, Magnisia, Imathia, Drama, Kozani, Florina, Beotia and the western districts of Athens and Pireus. In areas which are affected by economic restructuring, the scheme is implemented in accordance with decisions on "Integrated Intervention" (a general support scheme accompanying training and employment measures).

Up to 20 employees can be subsidised in new limited liability companies, general partnerships, limited partnerships of up to three partners, cooperatives and non-profit organisations.

3.5.2.3. Contents

The subsidies vary as follows:

  • - GRD 1,600,000 for men;
  • - GRD 1,800,000 for women;
  • - GRD 1,800,000 for men who set up their enterprises in "unemployment cluster" regions;
  • - GRD 2,000,000 for women who set up their enterprises in "unemployment cluster" regions.

    The above amounts are increased by GRD 200,000 if the person setting up the enterprise has been registered as unemployed for over five months (persons aged 18-29) or for over 11 months (persons aged 30-64).

    The subsidy amounts to GRD 100,000 per month. Thus, depending on the total amount of the subsidy, the support may be granted for 16, 18, 20, 22, 24 or 36 months.

    Persons who have entered into Local Employment Pacts receive a subsidy of GRD 3,750,000 for 30 months. The subsidy amounts to GRD 2,800,000 for 24 months in the case of "Integrated Intervention".
