3.6.5.GR-vi.5 Resettlement allowance for repatriated Greeks


3.6.5.1. Target group

Greek citizens returning permanently to Greece to live and work, and immigrants of Greek origin on obtaining Greek citizenship

3.6.5.2. Legal basis

Law 849/78, § 12.

3.6.5.3. Content

A one-off grant of between GRD 50,000 and GRD 100,000, depending on family status, for Greek citizens settling in regions outside the administrative districts of Thessalonica and Athens, and a rent allowance of GRD 3,000 for single and GRD 5,000 for married persons (provided they are in rented accommodation) for a period of two years after entering the country.

In the case of a married couple only one person is entitled to the aid. Admission to the programme is subject to the following conditions:

  • - for Greek nationals returning to Greece: a period of at least two years abroad;
  • - for immigrants of Greek origin: the acquisition of Greek citizenship;
  • - applicants must be aged between 20 and 60; and
  • - must settle in regions outside the administrative districts mentioned above.

    Unlimited.
